We will continue to enable individuals to prove their identity online and to access government services securely and safely. We expect to see continued progress towards 25 million people having a GOV.UK Verify account by 2020. The Written Statement on the GOV.UK Verify programme confirms that contracts have been signed with a number of private sector identity providers. These contracts incentivise those organisations to accelerate the creation of an interoperable standards based digital identity market.
