To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what discussions he has had with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the cost to the public purse of embedding physical activity into care pathways as recommended by the sporting future strategy 2015.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what discussions he has had with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the cost to the public purse of encouraging children to be physically active in their early years as set out in the sporting future strategy 2015.
The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care regularly speaks to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on a range of issues. The Department does not hold a record of a discussion between the current Secretary of State and the Chancellor of the Exchequer on this specific issue.
Officials from the Department of Health and Social Care have regular discussions with officials from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to review the implementation of Sporting Futures Strategy. Discussions include reviewing programmes to embed physical activity into care pathways and raising awareness of the United Kingdom Chief Medical Officers’ physical activity guidelines.
