The UK is a full and founding member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Since June 2016, Defra officials have consulted with a range of partners, including the WTO Secretariat and other WTO members, as we re-establish our independent membership upon leaving the EU. The Department for International Trade is primarily responsible for the government’s relationship with the WTO, as such Defra Ministers have not met with any WTO officials.
