To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what funding the Government has provided to the Discovery School in Newcastle in each of the previous five financial years.
Since the free school opened in 2014, the Department has provided grant, rates and pupil premium funding totalling £4,624,089. This can be broken down by academic year as follows:
2014/15 - £932,694
2015/16 - £2,041,145
2016/17 - £769,016
2017/18 - £880,964
Capital funding for individual free schools, university technical colleges and studio schools, where all works have been completed and costs are no longer commercially sensitive, is published on GOV.UK. Figures for schools meeting these criteria, including Discovery School, are due to be published later this month.
