To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps he is taking to expand the provision of secure bicycle space on rail services to and from York.

Reaching a balance between providing bicycle space in carriages and catering for the ever increasing numbers of passengers who want to travel by train, and would like to have a seat, is at the discretion of the train operating companies who are best placed to understand and manage local need. New Azuma trains which are due to enter into service from December 2018 will include spaces for bicycles which passengers will be able to reserve.
