To ask Her Majesty's Government what consideration they are giving to raising additional resources through taxation to meet the predicted shortfall in social care funding.

Decisions on the funding settlement for social care will be made as part of wider local government arrangements at the spending review.

Councils have access to £9.4 billion more dedicated funding for social care between 17/18 and 19/20 as a result of measures introduced since 2015. The government will also publish a Green Paper by autumn 2018, setting out its proposals to put social care on a more sustainable footing.
