To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, how many (a) staff and (b) full-time equivalent staff are employed in (i) payroll and (ii) non-payroll back-office functions in his Department.

The Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland does not employ staff directly. All staff that join, do so on an assignment, loan or secondment from other government bodies, who remain the employer. The Office therefore does not have a payroll function.
