Sport makes a significant economic contribution to the UK. According to my department’s Sport Satellite Account, in 2016 the value of the sports economy was just over £37 billion (gross value added). According to independent research carried out by Leeds Beckett University, the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire boosted the county's economy by almost £64 million.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
