The Prime Minister has announced a five-year funding agreement which will see the National Health Service budget grow by over £20 billion, in real terms, by 2023-24. The figures exclude the associated planned additions to resource budgets for NHS England in 2019-20 and 2020-21, which will be confirmed at a future fiscal event and which are not yet reflected in the Department’s Departmental Expenditure Limits. They also exclude the additional funding that the Government will provide to the NHS in the current financial year to cover Agenda for Change pay deal costs.
