Department for Transport written question – answered at on 14 June 2018.
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the meeting with the hon. Member for Brighton, Pavilion on Monday 4 June 2018 and his commitment to consider the concerns of constituents, what discussions he has had on passenger demands for the restoration of Gatwick Express services from Preston Park Station; and if he will make a statement.
There are no plans to reintroduce Gatwick Express services from Preston Park because the current range of services provides more trains for passengers than before the timetable change. Prior to 20 May there were 3 Gatwick Express and 3 Southern services to Victoria in the morning peak. Now there are 7 Southern services into Victoria with similar and slightly quicker journey times. The current service pattern is based on the position set out in Govia Thameslink Railway’s public consultation into the new timetable.
