To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps his Department is taking to assist local authorities with funding infrastructure improvements as part of Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans.
Jesse Norman
Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Transport)
The Department is currently providing technical and strategic support to local authorities to enable them to develop Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs). These plans will help identify and prioritise potential infrastructure improvements. The Department will consider options for supporting infrastructure improvements identified through the LCWIP process as and when future funding opportunities arise.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
