Mental health is a key priority of the Government. This Mental Health Awareness Week, my Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State attended the launch of the Alliance of Champions for Mental Health and Wellbeing, of which the United Kingdom is a founding member, along with Canada and Australia. At the event, the Secretary of State announced the first ever Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit, which will take place in London this October.

I co-chaired the penultimate meeting of the Women’s Mental Health Taskforce. In addition, NHS England announced a package of £25 million funding to support local suicide prevention plans.
