To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if he will bring forward legislative proposals to encourage people to transition from conventionally fuelled to electric cars.

Government is taking new powers through the Automated and Electric Vehicles Bill to improve the provision of electric vehicle infrastructure. These proposals include powers to regulate technical standards of infrastructure to ensure easy compatibility with vehicles, to ensure availability of data on chargepoint locations and availability, and to require provision at motorway service areas and large fuel retailers.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
