Foreign and Commonwealth Office written question – answered at on 17 May 2018.
To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the government of Burma regarding the recent military offensive by the Burmese army in the Mutraw district of Karen State.
We regularly raise concerns about the ongoing conflicts in Burma but have had no specific discussions with the government of Burma about the recent military offensive in Karen State. In a statement published on the gov.uk website on 11 May, the Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific restated the UK's commitment to supporting the triple transition in Burma: from military rule to democratic civilian government, from conflict to peace, and from a closed economy to an open one.
