To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment his Department has made of the potential merits of using the Cycle to Work Scheme to support the uptake of electric bikes.
Jesse Norman
Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Transport)
The Cycle to Work scheme can already be used to assist with the purchase of electrically assisted pedal cycles, and is one of the many ways in which the Government is supporting active travel choices, as set out in the 2017 Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy. The Department has not made any formal assessment of the number of electrically assisted pedal cycles which have been purchased under the scheme.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
