In line with international reporting guidelines a number of different data sources are combined to calculate the emissions from waste incineration sites for the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory.

These include emissions data from large waste installations reported under the Industrial Emissions Directive and European Pollution Release and Transfer Register and emissions calculated from peer reviewed literature emission factors and activity data.
