From the very beginning of this process, the Prime Minister has been clear that safeguarding the rights of EU citizens living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU was her first priority for the negotiations.

The UK Government and the European Commission have stated that providing certainty for citizens is a priority - that is why we have worked hard through negotiations to agree a final deal that works for all.

This is a commitment we have delivered. The agreement reached and set out in the Withdrawal Agreement text provides certainty on the rights of UK nationals currently living in the EU.
