To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many secure accommodation places there are for children in England; what the capacity of those places is; and how many vacancies there are at present.

There were 14 secure children’s homes in England at 31 March 2017 with a total capacity of 205 and 184 children accommodated. Hence, as at 31 March 2017, there were 21 vacancies.

These figures were published in 2017 in the statistical first release ‘Children accommodated in secure children's homes: 31 March 2017’ (SFR23/2017), Children accommodated in secure children's homes: 31 March 2017.
