To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many women who were being held on remand died in prison in 2017.

Data on deaths in prison custody is published quarterly in the Safety in Custody statistics. They can be viewed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/654500/safety-in-custody-summary-q2-2017.xlsx.

There was one death in custody whilst on remand between January and September 2017.
