To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many mental health staff were employed in the NHS in the West Midlands in (a) 2010 and (b) 2017.

NHS Digital publishes workforce statistics and the following table shows the number of full time equivalent staff working in a mental health and learning disability trust at 31 August 2013 and 31 August 2017.

It should be noted that before 2013, primary care trusts also delivered some mental health services and therefore it would be misleading to report workforce numbers in mental health trusts earlier than 2013.
