To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what advice and support his Department is providing to people from the UK, including missionaries and humanitarian workers, who plan to travel to provide support to communities in Nigeria's Delta region.

The Foreign and Commonwealth strongly recommends that all UK citizens planning to travel overseas, familiarise themselves with our travel advice. The travel advice pages are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect changing circumstances. We currently advise against all but essential travel to Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States and against all travel to the riverine areas of those states. We are supporting the families of the four British people who were abducted on 13 October in Nigeria. I would like to offer my condolences to the friends and family of Ian Squire who was tragically killed whilst being held captive. This has clearly been a traumatic time for all concerned, and our staff will continue to do all we can to support the families.
