The department recognises the importance of ensuring that teachers are well equipped to support children and young people with special educational needs or a disability, including those with autism. We are unable to comment on continuing funding for the Autism Education Trust, as decisions about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities contracts for next financial year are still under consideration.
