To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what steps the Government is taking to tackle paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland.

The 2015 Fresh Start Agreement included a number of commitments to tackle paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland. This resulted in the NI Executive bringing forward an Action Plan. The UK Government is providing £25m in support of this. A Programme Board has been established to drive this work forward.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
