To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will raise with the Moroccan Ambassador to the UK the need for an independent investigation into the death of Minatu Ahl Shikh.

We are aware of the death of Minatu Ahl Shikh. The local public prosecutor issued a statement confirming the conclusions of a private autopsy that she had drowned and that there was no evidence of physical or sexual violence.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
