To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what recent discussions officials of his Department have had with (a) their counterparts in the US Administration or (b) representatives of Lockheed Martin on cost reduction targets for the UK F35 variants in production batches 12, 13 and 14.

The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) procures F-35 aircraft on behalf of all the F-35 Partner Nations. All of the aircraft to be procured in production lots 12, 13 and 14 are currently in the costing and negotiation phase. Our expectation is to see cost reduction with each successive production lot. Cost reduction targets are not released in advance as to do so could undermine the JPO's negotiations with industry.
