The bulk of the income received by the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is from charges to industry. The grant made available by the Department to cover statutory activity, for which the ONR cannot charge industry, is planned to decrease in line with ONR’s intention to reduce its reliance on the grant and the Spending Review 2015 Settlement.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy will allocate ONR the funding necessary to set up a domestic civil nuclear safeguards regime on leaving Euratom.
