Department for International Trade written question – answered at on 24 October 2017.
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what assessment he has made of the proposals in the letter dated 26 September 2017 from the US Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation, along with his Argentinian, Brazilian, Canadian, New Zealand, Thai and Uruguayan equivalents sent to their EU and UK equivalents on the EU allocation of tariff rate quotas after the UK leaves the EU.
The UK wants to ensure a smooth transition in the World Trade Organization (WTO) which minimises disruption to our trading relationships. We are, and will continue, to discuss our proposals on tariff rate quotas, and other matters, extensively with our partners in the WTO over the coming period.
