To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent steps his Department has taken to reduce the number of road traffic accidents involving left-hand-drive vehicles in the UK.

The Department is constantly looking to build on the UK’s excellent national road safety record. The Department is working at European and international levels on various measures such as improving driver vision through mirrors and cameras.
The Department’s “British Road Safety Statement” published in December 2015 also sets out measures to further improve safety of all road users.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
