To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what data her Department collects on people whose appeal rights have been exhausted and then become missing.

The Home Office will hold relevant immigration history and biographical details on individuals with whom the department has had contact, either through an enforcement encounter, asylum claim, visa or immigration application. Should an individual become Appeal Rights Exhausted every effort is made to effect a return to their country of origin. If an individual absconds or goes missing, the Home Office will work with other agencies to locate the individual as quickly as possible. Through the Immigration Act 2016, we have made it more difficult for people to remain in the UK illegally by incentivising voluntary returns, introducing tougher penalties for illegal working and restricting illegal migrants’ access to services.
