To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, how many local libraries have been operating in each region of England and Wales in each year since 2010.

Data relating to libraries is collected from local authorities by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy which makes available the data annually to subscribers.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
