To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what discussions UK representatives have had with (a) US authorities, (b) authorities in affected countries, (c) airlines and (d) other national or international bodies on the recent US announcement restricting electronic devices on flights; and if he will make a statement.

The Department for Transport has been in close contact with our US counterparts in order to fully understand their position taken. We have also been working closely with our partners overseas. We have been liaising with airlines and industry to put in place measures we believe are necessary, effective and proportionate.
