To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the Answer of 23 February 2017 to Question 64690, how many physical education teachers have been trained in the UK in each year since 2010.

The figures held by the Department for Education for Initial Teacher Training (ITT) relate to England only. In the academic year 2016/17, there were 1,098 new entrants to physical education ITT in England, exceeding our teacher supply model target of 999.

We have exceeded this target for each academic year since 2010/11.

The number of new entrants to physical education (PE) ITT in England each year since 2010 is as follows[1]:
