To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the Answer of 23 February 2017 to Question 63665, what discussions he has had with the Minister for the Cabinet Office on whether he has taken into consideration the estimated number of adults without a bank account in developing his Department's voter identification trial.

Treasury Ministers and officials meet regularly with colleagues across Government to discuss a wide range of issues. As was the case with previous Administrations, it is not the Treasury's practice to provide details of all such discussions.

The Government is committed to improving access to financial services. Access to a transactional bank account is key to enabling people to manage their money on a day-to-day basis effectively, securely and confidently.

Since September 2016, the nine largest personal current account providers in the UK are legally required to offer basic bank accounts to customers who do not have a bank account or who are ineligible for a bank’s standard current account.
