Department of Health written question – answered on 2nd March 2017.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, how many women have been diagnosed with post-natal depression in England in each of the last five years.
The data requested is not centrally collected.
Work is underway to improve data collection in perinatal mental health services. NHS Digital has started publishing monthly experimental statistics collected via the Mental Health Dataset, which includes information on perinatal mental health services. In addition, a core objective of the NHS England led perinatal mental health transformation programme is to improve data over the coming years in order to better understand access and outcomes for women in line with availability of services locally.
