Foreign and Commonwealth Office written question – answered on 1st March 2017.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what recent assessment he has made of LGBT rights in Tanzania.
We are concerned by the increased anti-homosexual rhetoric and steadily deteriorating LGBT environment in Tanzania. Our High Commission in Dar es Salaam has been monitoring the situation closely; officials are also part of an LGBT taskforce, which regularly meets with advocacy groups, including Stonewall and Human Rights Watch, to support LGBT rights in Tanzania.
