Department for Education written question – answered at on 16 January 2017.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what proportion of (a) primary and (b) secondary school children attend a school where sex education is taught.
We do not collect data on the curriculum provision of individual schools, including the provision of sex education. Sex education is compulsory in all maintained secondary schools, and primary maintained schools and academies are encouraged to teach it as an important part of delivering a balanced curriculum.
