To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what the evidential basis is for his statement in his oral contribution of 9 January 2017, Official Report, column 37, on mental health and NHS performance, that the NHS is treating 1,400 more patients through mental health services every day.

The number of people in contact with National Health Service funded secondary mental health services and learning disability services is reported in the Mental Health Services Dataset, which is managed and published by NHS Digital.
