To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what the reasons are for the time taken to appoint the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy Expert Committee.

We remain committed to establishing a Cycling and Walking Expert Committee, as set out in the draft Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy.

We have extended the recruitment campaign for the positions of Chair and deputy Chair while we take a closer look at applications to ensure requirements for these key roles are fully met and that we have fully tested the market.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
