To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many full-time equivalent civil servants employed by his Department work in support of research projects funded by his Department; and if he will make a statement.

It is estimated that between 6 April 2015 to 5 April 2016 51.5 full-time equivalent civil servants were employed by the Department for Transport in support of research projects funded by the Department.
