To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what her Department's policy is on Chief Constables replying to letters from Members of Parliament.

Policy on responding to correspondence, including letters from Members of Parliament, is a matter for individual forces. Concerns about these policies, or correspondence itself, should be raised with the force in question or with the directly elected Police and Crime Commissioner.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
