To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, what steps the Government is taking to engage with young Muslim communities in order to tackle Daesh online propaganda.

The Government frequently engages with young Muslim communities, both in Britain and around the world, to discuss how best to tackle Daesh’s propaganda. The Government is focused on amplifying and supporting credible voices to expose the true nature of Daesh; to undermine Daesh’s brand; and to highlight Daesh’s military and governance failures. In our role as co-chair of the Coalition Working Group on Strategic Communications we have established a Coalition Communications Cell in London. This will strengthen the capacity of governments in the region, increase cooperation among Coalition countries, and run strategic communications campaigns. Engaging with young Muslim communities will be essential if this work is going to be credible and have the desired impact.
