To ask Her Majesty’s Government when the new contractor for rail electrification schemes in the North West will be appointed, and what is the timetable for carrying out and completing each of those schemes.

Network Rail is working through the contract details to complete contract award on the North West Electrification Schemes. This programme forms part of the delivery review being undertaken by the new Chairman of Network Rail, Sir Peter Hendy. Contract award is expected before the end of 2015. Interim arrangements are in place to ensure that progress on these important schemes continues.
