To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether the complainant and first witness in the recent prosecution of Councillor Gurpai Virdi is subject to a court order of anonymity.

Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 provides for lifetime anonymity for complainants in a wide range of sexual offences without the necessity of a court order. That provision applies in the case involving the recent prosecution of Councillor Gurpal Virdi.
