To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, what plans his Department has to develop the Help to Buy scheme to ensure it supports people in (a) Bermondsey and Old Southwark Constituency, (b) London and (c) the UK.

This Government is committed to supporting people’s aspirations to own their own home.
By 31 March 2015, almost 100,000 families have bought a home with the assistance of the Help to Buy schemes in the UK. This includes 27 families in the Bermondsey and Old Southwark Constituency and 5,819 families in London.
At Budget 2014, the Chancellor announced that the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme would be extended to 2020 providing a further £6 billion to support 120,000 more people into home ownership.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
In a general election, each Constituency chooses an MP to represent them. MPs have a responsibility to represnt the views of the Constituency in the House of Commons. There are 650 Constituencies, and thus 650 MPs. A citizen of a Constituency is known as a Constituent
The Chancellor - also known as "Chancellor of the Exchequer" is responsible as a Minister for the treasury, and for the country's economy. For Example, the Chancellor set taxes and tax rates. The Chancellor is the only MP allowed to drink Alcohol in the House of Commons; s/he is permitted an alcoholic drink while delivering the budget.
