To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, if he will place in the Library the research his Department has commissioned on links between securing a short-hours job and a subsequent gain of longer-hours jobs.

The Department has not commissioned any research specifically on this topic. We will consider the need to commission any such research alongside future Departmental evidence requirements.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
