Home Office written question – answered at on 24 March 2015.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the effect of the reduction in the number of English Language Test Centres for international students on university finances.
The Secure English Language Test centre network has been planned to meet anticipated demand. Overseas, the test centres have been mapped to the Visa Application Centre locations to limit the impact on travel and within the UK, there will be an adequate spread of test centres across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. There are provisions in the contract which allow us to expand the network if there is a capacity or location specific issue.
