Department of Health written question – answered on 4th February 2015.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what mechanisms are in place for the NHS to recover the costs of performing revision surgery when repairing the damage caused by failed surgery carried out by outsourced private providers.
National Health Service patients should expect to receive the same safe, high quality standards of care, wherever they are treated.
When things go wrong, commissioners can also hold private providers to account through the NHS Standard Contract, which can involve financial sanctions, or the termination of contracts where service improvements are not made.
