Foreign and Commonwealth Office written question – answered on 4th February 2015.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what is their assessment of the report of 16 December 2014 from the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran; and what practical ways they have identified for implementing its recommendations.
We strongly supported the last report of October 2014 of the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran; and wholly endorsed his recommendations regarding the use of death penalty, a ban on child marriage and in support of the full enjoyment of rights guaranteed by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
We raise human rights issues in our bilateral dialogue with Iran and work closely with international human rights bodies and partners to encourage Iran to improve its human rights record and progress the issues raised in the UN Special Rapporteur’s recommendations.
