Home Office written question – answered on 4th February 2015.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many people have been prosecuted for (1) human trafficking offences, and (2) other offences, as a result of the Metropolitan Police's Operation Pibera and similar operations across the United Kingdom which target criminals who use children to traffic drugs across county boundaries.
The Home Office does not hold this information centrally. However, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that, where a child is forced to move drugs and there is sufficient evidence, human trafficking offences may be used to prosecute those responsible.
