In September 2013 the Prescribed Specialised Services Advisory Group (PSSAG) considered a proposal from NHS England that it should commission a specialist complex and refractory affective disorders service. PSSAG considered the service with regard to the four statutory factors set out in the National Health Service Act 2006 (as amended by the Health and Social Care Act 2012) and was unable to recommend this service for commissioning by NHS England on the basis of the information it had been given. Further information is being sought and the service will be discussed again at a future PSSAG meeting once the additional information has been obtained.
